The King of the Corn contest is a continuation of the ever so successful Ottumwa Smoketoberfest contest that quickly became the most anticipated KCBS Contest in Iowa. Under Francis Dutton’s lead, King of the Corn will be one of the most hospitable BBQ Contests in the Midwest. We look forward to seeing you this fall in Ottumwa, IA!

About FRANCIS
I am a BBQ’er through & through & I fully support BBQ, especially IOWA BBQ. I spent 4 years on the Iowa BBQ Society as the executive secretary. For the last 8 years my wife Christine & I run the Iowa BBQ Society Judges & Table Captains class which is held every year in the month of March.
It is very important to me that BBQ competitions stay alive in our state. At one time Iowa had as many as 14 KCBS Pro Series BBQ competitions. Over the years we have lost many great competitions & as of today have a 6 competitions left. My focus is to make sure we have great opportunities for competition BBQ right in our backyard as well as in the state. This competition has grown over the last 3 years & my focus & drive are to make sure it keeps growing into the top competition in the state. In fact, I would like the competition to become the largest in the Midwest to attract many great BBQ teams from across our state and the United States.
I look forward to making sure the King of the Corn best represents what is great about BBQ, Ottumwa & the State of Iowa!
